One of the unique features of The Studio and The Gallery is that all the artworks are originals painted by your host, Shelagh. Despite no formal tuition, Shelagh started painting in 2008 and has been painting prolifically since then. As a Christian, Shelagh is a great believer in art, speaking a visual prophetic message, and she has travelled extensively in Southern Africa and Europe, painting publically in many different contexts. The basis for her inspiration is her Christian faith and the belief that God uses her painting to encourage people with ‘Words of Art’ (as opposed to them just being ‘works of art’). All paintings are available for purchase, so the next time you visit, there will probably be new art on the walls!

Shelagh has exhibited at the Hilton Arts Festival and paints commissions for clients. She was recently commissioned to paint four large canvases for a Pilates studio in Johannesburg, and has paintings hanging in homes overseas.

Shelagh is a firm believer that being creative is an ideal opportunity to spend time with God. She loves to facilitate creative mornings for ladies at The Aloes Farm and often has ladies congregating to spend time being creative while enjoying solitude with God.
